For Tori, it all started when she was just
2 years old. Armed with a blue crayon and a blank piece of paper,
she drew her very first elephant.
Today, her art is sophisticated and refined yet
its playful attitude remains the focus.
Toris work is a mix between pop art and cubism.
Her "boys and girls" series is created in the pop art
style, utlizing bright and playful colors. While her "poptart"
series is cubist - inspired still lifes containing a variety
of imagery including: wines, food and images of the Northwest.
Her work is vibrant, energetic and boasts refreshing colors while
the subject matter remains abstract and unpredictable.
Toris understanding of color, shape and form
accentuate the feel of each piece while retaining the artistic
fingerprint in which she has so skillfully developed. This unique
balance is what makes her style so distinct, spunky and popular.
Toris unique style has been brewing ever since
the day that first blue elephant was born. She always knew she
was going to be an artist. She just wasnt sure which direction
it would take her.
She graduated high school in Maryland with many
coveted art awards to her credit.
In college, her artistic instincts and background led her to pursue
graphic design, computers and color theory. Due to her fascination
with the way color reacts with other objects and its power
over the senses and moods, color theory ended up being the focus
of her studies and graphic design the foundation of her artistic
style.
In 1999, Tori packed up her crayons and moved to
Anacortes, Washington to work as an interface designer / illustrator
at "How It Works". Having some extra time, she began
to paint again and soon noticed the large amount of original art
listed by self-representing artists on eBay. She tried her hand
at it and has now sold well over 500 paintings since 2000, including
many pieces sold internationally.
With her abstract concepts and advanced comprehension
for line quality and color, Tori continues to develop her craft.
Whether shes using acrylic on canvas or crayon on paper-
you never know whats gonna "pop" up next.
